What is HN Engineering Bridging Course?
You will need to get an average grade of Merit to be eligible for entry onto the HNC.
What does the course consist of?
All units are delivered via our Learning Management System online, so is available 24/7. Assessment is through our e-portfolio, which is where you upload your assignments to. We have a wealth of experience within the team to support you through your studies. Here are the units we have to offer in Engineering.
- Unit 001 – Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace
- Unit 002 – Communications for Engineering Technicians
- Unit 004 – Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
- Unit 005 – Mechanical Principles and Applications
- Unit 006 – Electrical & Electronic Principles
- Unit 028 – Further Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
How long will the course take?
Depends on how much time you have available. The rule of thumb is that you can achieve 120 credits per “academic” year (36 weeks), whilst studying full time. Most part time students can achieve 60 credits a year whilst juggling family, social life and work.
So it is really up to you. You can however study more than one unit at a time, such as U001 and U002, but U004 needs to be done before U005 or U006. U028 can’t be started until U004 is complete. However after the 12 months is up, you will need to renew for any units you have not completed, at the individual unit price.
Who is this Course for?
For those who may have changed discipline, such as IT or Business, who would like to start a career in Engineering.
All credits can be used for larger qualifications and are eligible for UCAS points for those seeking entry into University, or onwards to Higher Education, such as the HNC in Engineering.
